This historic neighborhood was originally settled in the 1830s by Irish workers, and many of these homes still exist today, as do its cobblestone streets and corner-store structures that nod to the past. The neighborhood has traditionally taken great pride in its origins and in truly making these historic structures shine, while continuing to welcome in the new.

While the Irish flag can be seen flying year-round around many homes and businesses in this neighborhood, the annual St. Patrick's Day celebrations take on a life of their own in this community. From fantastic neighborhood pubs like Tracey's and Parasol's that host lively block parties, to the magnificent parade down Magazine Street, it is the most wonderful time of year to be an Irish Channel resident.

Magazine Street has long been home to shops, restaurants, and bars - and many of these are steps away from The Croi community. There is no shortage of great bites and cocktails within walking distance, including the James Beard Award-Winning Turkey & the Wolf, Coquette, Molly's Rise and Shine, and so many more.
